In the main office at NEIR, I worked with another student called David Sale to create a system to control the ambient temperature in the main office. We installed thermocouples in each room and monitored each via a RS232 port.

 

The program would attempt to maintain the desired average temperature by controlling the air conditioning system. The system would run constantly so that it may bring up the temperature of the office in readiness for staff arriving and also cool the office down during out of hours.
